Smoking - increases the risk of cancer death

Smoking appears to be the most dangerous of the four factors, increasing the risk of death from cancer by up to 58%, study shows. Sedentary lifestyle and alcohol consumption follows as risk factors for cancer and heart disease. According to the study, poor diet does not influence cancer risk and increases slightly the risk of death from heart disease.

"If a person is not active smoking, excess alcohol and has a diet low in fruits and vegetables, has a body 12 years and older with a risk of premature death," warns Ellen Mason, assistant to the British Heart Foundation.
